On Friday, we found a large number of stocks that made new highs. This, despite the market was very quite and very low on volatility.
Our list of potential candidates for "Long Positions" is made up of 268 stocks. Of the total stocks, 129 of them, registered new highs. For the second time in a week, this number was unusually high. This is another indicator of good time that is experiencing the market.
One issue worth mentioning is the nature of the breakouts. Most recent breakouts have exceeded bases of prices that have been constructed for over ten months.
One such example is iShares Russell 1000 Index ETF (IWB). This ETF closed on Friday at US$ 78.11 experiencing an increase of 0.13% with respect to previous day. The volume was 1.2 Millions of shares, similar to the daily average. IWB has net assets of US$ 6.82 Billions, a P/E of 14 and a Yield of 1.77.
This ETF made a good breakout on Friday, overcoming a price built since April last year. This importante base of prices allows IWB start a new way up.
